1. CBN Implements New Policy, Banks To Charge Nigerians For Deposits, Withdrawals

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has ordered the implementation of a new phase of its cashless policy which will see Nigerians charged for certain categories of deposits and withdrawals.

In a circular, dated September 17, 2019, which was sighted by Naija News, the CBN’s Director of Payments System Management Department, Sam Okojere, instructed deposit money banks to implement the policy starting from September 18.

2. MDAs, EFCC, Others Make Presentations As Buhari Presides Over FEC Meeting

Some Ministries, Departments and Agencies made presentations at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which held on Wednesday.

Naija News understands that the meeting started when President Muhammadu Buhari, who presided entered the council chambers and was attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and other cabinet members.

3. Nigerian Legislators Honour Air Peace Boss Allen Onyema

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of an airline company, Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema has honored the invitation of the Nigerian House of Representatives.

Naija News learnt that the patriotic Nigerian businessman was invited to appear before the House on Wednesday in recognition of his magnanimous decision to put his planes for use to evacuate Nigerians who were being attacked in the wake of the xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

4. CBN Reschedules September 2019 MPC Meeting

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has rescheduled its Monetary Policy Committee meeting for September earlier scheduled for September 23 and 24, 2019.

The notice of the change in date was made known in a press release dated September 17, 2019, which was signed by Isaac Okorafor, Director, Corporate Communications.

5. 2023: Ozekhome Reveals Buhari’s Plan For Osinbajo, Tinubu

Legal luminary and human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), on Tuesday said President Muhammadu Buhari will soon ease out Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

According to Ozekhome who spoke in a chat with Daily Independent, the move is part of plans to make the two leaders feel unaccommodated in APC and ultimately discard them.

6. EFCC Asks Adoke To Appear For Corruption Trial, Deny Persecuting Former Minister

The claim by the former Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, that the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo was persecuting him through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been dismissed by the anti-graft agency.

The former minister had in his book titled, “Burden of Service: Reminiscences of Nigeria’s former Attorney General,” alleged that the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu, Osinbajo and the former Majority Leader in the Senate leader, Ali Ndume, persecuted him to the point that he considered suicide as a way to end his travails.

7. Biafra: Why Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB Can’t Attack Me – Ngige

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has claimed members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) cannot attack him because he protected them when he was Governor of Anambra State.

Ngige made this known while reacting to reports that IPOB members had threatened to attack South-East politicians outside the shores of Nigeria.

8. CJN Fixes Date, Venue To Swear In 38 New Senior Advocates Of Nigeria

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, will on Monday, September 23, 2019, at the main Courtroom of the Supreme Court, swear-in 38 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs).

This was confirmed in a statement by the Director, Press, and Information of the Supreme Court, Dr. Festus Akande.

9. Buhari Sacks Head of Service Oyo-Ita, Names Replacement

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent the Head of Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, on an indefinite suspension.

Naija News reports that Oyo-Ita’s indefinite suspension was announced on Wednesday night on the micro-blogging site, Twitter by the handle of the Nigerian Government “@ngrpresident.”

10. Falana Reveals How INEC Can Introduce Electronic Voting Under Current Electoral Act

Human right activist, Femi Falana, SAN, has revealed that under the present Electoral Act, the Independent National Electoral Commission, can introduce electronic voting if it has the plan to strengthen the electoral process.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had refused to sign the amended Electoral Act.
