Imo State governor, Emeka Ihedioha has appointed former Super Eagles star, Kanu Nwankwo as his Senior Special Assistant on Sports.

This the governor stated through his special assistant on new media.

“In this new role, the Nigeria World Cup skipper will assist the Ihedioha administration on rebuilding the sports sector in Imo State”, it said.

Kanu is a holder of the OON national title.

Fondly called Papilo, Kanu was Born on 1st of August, 1976. He established the Kanu Heart Foundation (KHF) which has saved hundreds of lives.

Kanu played for Iwuanyanwu Nationale, Dutch side Ajax, Inter Milan of Italy, and English clubs Arsenal, West Bromwich Albion and Portsmouth.

Kanu is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
