Senate Resumes Ministerial Screening

The Nigerian Senate on Friday continued the screening of 43 names submitted to it for screening as ministers by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News recalls of the 43 nominees on the list, only seven women were included which has continued to generate diverse reactions.

The screening which began on Wednesday, 24th July saw the lawmakers complete the screening of 10 nominees. On Thursday, the lawmakers screened another set of 14 nominees.

11:05 AM: The first to be screened today is the immediate past Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (Kebbi State). He is currently addressing the Senate.

After answering some questions from the lawmakers, he is allowed to take a bow and exit.

11:55 AM: Next before the Senators fro his screening is former aviation minister, Hadi Sirika from Katsina State – President Buhari’s home state.

Sirika is also a former House of Rep member as well as an ex-Senator. To this end, he is allowed to take a bow and exit without question as it has become the lawmakers’ practice.

12:17 PM: Senate goes on break, to reconvene by 4pm.
