The House of Representatives has turned rowdy after a motion was moved by a house member calling for the release of Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shiites.

Not less than 12 persons were reported dead after the movement protested in Abuja, on Tuesday, a reporter of Channels Tv was killed during the protest.

Linda Ikpeazu had moved an amendment to a motion by Mohammed Bello.

Ikpeazu’s motion followed a negative motion for the federal government to obey court order on the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria.

After the motion was taken twice without any clear majority, the Speaker, Femi Gbajabimila called for the division of the house to allow headcount which saw the house go rowdy.

The house, therefore, moved into a closed-door session to allow the headcount.
