A trader identified as Binaebilayefa Dawudu was on Saturday shot dead during a robbery attack on the Ojo local government area of Lagos state.

Naija News reports that Dawuda was killed when a stray bullet fired by the gunmen hit him while on his way back from his prayer session.

Dawudu was hit by the bullets on his way back from a mosque in the area where he had gone to observe his prayers.

An eye witness narrated the attack as thus; “I was on my way to buy foodstuffs in the market when I heard three gunshots. But because there was no electricity, we ran into a bet shop for safety. One of the assailants followed us into the shop. He ordered us to lie down and robbed us and other customers of our valuables. Afterwards, he left. It was when I got to my hostel that I heard that Dawudu had been killed.”

Dawudu was said to have been killed because he unknowing to him, passed the route the robbers were using as their escape route where he collided with the robbers on their way out of the operation scene.

The family of the deceased called on the Lagos State Police Command to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter with the aim of arresting the killers of their family member and bringing his killers to justice.

The deceased’s brother, Abiodun, said only justice would assuage the hurt of the family.

He said, “I got a call from his friend that he was shot dead; I called other people who confirmed the incident. This is not the first time they will be killing people.

“Aside from my brother, they killed another man in the area this year. We want the police to investigate the incident and bring the killers to justice.”
