JUST IN: NLC begins nationwide protest

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) earlier today took to the streets of Abuja to protest against the Minister of Labour, Senator Chris Ngige over the leadership tussle at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) board.

Naija News understands that the nationwide protest, which began at 9 am was against the minister’s unwillingness to inaugurate of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) board.


Speaking at the protest, the national president of NLC, Ayuba Wabba, said the union are protesting the attack on Nigerian workers during a protest to his house. According to him, Nigerian workers have the rights to protest and picket.“Members of International Labour Congress in Geneva will be protesting against Ngige on June 18,” he said.

Meanwhile, The Labour and Employment Minister of Labour, Senator Chris Ngige has inaugurated the new board of NSITF.

The new board is to be chaired by Austin Enejomo-Isire.

The inauguration took place at the banquet hall presidential villa in Abuja.
