Acting Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Mohammed Adamu on Thursday concluded that political parties and politicians armed their followers to undermine the electoral process.
Adama said that though the election was conducted in a largely credible and peaceful atmosphere, he maintained that the election witnessed armed politicians who disrupted the process of the polls.
Naija News reports that Adamu made this known while he assessed the conduct of the 2019 general election.
The Acting IGP said this while he spoke at a two-day annual summit of political parties and stakeholders.
The summit was organized by Political Parties Leadership and Policy Development Centre of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Adamu said that security agents made a series of arrests of such armed thugs and recovered illegal firearms from them.
