Traditional Ruler’s Son Arrested For Murder In Lagos State

The Lagos State Police Command during the weekend apprehended a son to a traditional ruler, Bashiru Ahmed for allegeded involvement in the murder of Oshin Aderibigbe while trying to rob the victim of his valuables.

The PPRO, Bala Elkana, in a statement released stated that the victim reported that attack and identified the suspect before he gave up the ghost.

Elkana stated that upon investigation into the case, the suspect was apprehended and also confessed to carrying out the crime with two other assailants still at large.

Elkana said, “On Friday, April 26, 2019, around 11.30am, one Oshin Aderigbigbe, later identified as the spokesman for the Joint Campus Committee, National Association of Nigerian Students, Lagos, reported at the Okokomaiko Police Station with blood gushing out of his body that he was attacked by three men who dispossessed him of his handset and laptop and stabbed him with a knife. He was rushed to hospital, but eventually died.”

“The leader of the hoodlums that attacked him, Bashiru Ahmed, a.k.a Kawu (21), was arrested. He confessed to have committed the crime with two of his friends. The said Ahmed, who is the son of a popular traditional ruler in Okoko, is a notorious criminal who was charged to court on several occasions by the police for sundry offences. He returned from prison six months ago and had been on the watch list of the police.”

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Zubairu Mu’azu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, for discreet investigation. Detectives have spread their tentacles to arrest the remaining two suspects on the run.”
