Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar has inaugurated committee for the review of a new minimum wage for workers of the state.

Naija News reports that the 15-member committee is aimed at reviewing and negotiating for a new Minimum Wage for civil servants across the government parastatals in the state.

The Special Assistant to the Governor of Jigawa State on New Media, Auwal D. Sankara, made this known to newsmen on Thursday.

The special assistant to the governor added that the committee will be chaired by the outgoing Deputy Governor, of the state, Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, while the Acting Head of Service, Hussaini Ali Kila will serve as Secretary of the committee.

The governor’s message revealed that the inauguration of the committee followed the approval of the Federal Government for the increase in the National Minimum Wage and to fulfil the promise he made during his electioneering activities.

He said after the committee has finalised on the work, a bill would be sent to the State House of Assembly to undergo scrutiny before being passed into law.
