Police, Other Security Agents Foil Jailbreak In Kano

84 prisoners from various prisons across Edo state have again regained their freedoms.

Naija News reports that the prisoners among which some had been imprisoned for about 7-years, regained their freedoms after the Edo state command of the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) secured their release through the Presidential Committee on Prison and Decongestion.

This was contained in a statement made in Abuja by the spokesman, NPS in the Edo State Command, DSP Aminu Suleman.

Suleman. said some of the prisoners had acquired skills in various trades while serving their jail terms, and had their fines of the varying amount paid by the Committee on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation in collaboration with the Edo State Government and other donors.

The committee is headed by Hon. Justice Ishaq Bello, the Chief Judge of the FCT and has Deputy Controller General of Prisons (DCG Ops) Garba Abubakar as a member, Mrs Ayoola Daniels as Secretary and several Directors spread across the various relevant federal ministries as members.

The statement by Suleman gave the various prisons in which the release of the inmates were secured as follow;

MSP Oko — 22

Benin Prison (old) — 33
Ozalla Farm Centre — 3

Auchi Prison — 7

Female Prison, Auchi — 1

Ubiaja Prison — 3

Ogba Farm Project — 15
