It no longer news that two major political parties in Nigeria; the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been taking the lead in the politics of the country as a whole.

Naija News reports that although 32 political parties are fielding candidates in Saturday’s governorship election in Gombe State, the battle is as usual between the ruling PDP in the state and the major opposition, APC.

The state PDP is represented by Usman Nafada, while the opposition is being represented by Inuwa Yahaya in the Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

Going by the result of the presidential and National Assembly elections held on February 23 in the state, one may say that the APC may eventually clinch the governorship seat in Gombe by defeating the PDP which has ruled the state consecutively for 16 years.

According to the spokesperson of the PDP campaign in Gombe, Dahiru Kera, Mr Nafada has more experience in governance compared to the APC candidate.

Would the experience of the PDP’s candidate count or would the people of Gombe elect a new face even aside the regular APC and PDP candidates?

The election is expected to hold in the 11 local government areas of the state which include; Akko, Balanga, Billiri, Dukku, Funakaye, Gombe, Kaltungo, Kwami, Nafada, Shongom, and Yamaltu/Deba
