Biafra: Ejimakor Unveils 3 Debts President Buhari Owes Nnamdi Kanu

A referendum for the Republic of Biafra will be achieved “either sanctioned by the Nigerian state or not”, Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has said.

Naija News reports that the secessionist leader made this comment in an interview with Newsweek.

This online news platform recalls that Kanu had in the past called for an election boycott in order to conduct a referendum for the Republic of Biafra but later rescinded his decision, citing an undisclosed agreement reached with the Nigerian government as the reason for his decision.

Speaking on why he is agitating for the Biafra Republic, the IPOB leader said this became imperative because his people are “victims of the worst kind of racism, discrimination, apartheid and abuse”.

The IPOB leader noted that he and his group are seeking to return from where they came from before the colonial masters came.

His words: “My people are forgotten people, victims of genocide, victims of the worst kind of racism, discrimination, apartheid and abuse. We are seeking to return from where we came, to go back to how we used to be before our colonial masters came.

“We will eventually get our referendum, either sanctioned by the Nigerian state or not. But it is bound to happen,” Kanu told Newsweek.

Kanu is leading a group seeking secession from Nigeria. The group has since been proscribed by the Nigerian government.
