Amaechi Exposes Osinbajo’s Plan For Rail Project

The minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has revealed the plans of the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo for the Lagos-Ibadan rail project.

Amaechi revealed that Osinbajo would test-run the ongoing construction of the Lagos-Ibadan Gauge railway on Wednesday, February 6.

The minister of transportation made this revelation on Friday, February 1, while on an inspection ride on the standard gauge train from Agbado to Abeokuta.

Amaechi revealed that the general public would enjoy a two-month free ride on the route from Thursday, February 7.

In his own words, the transportation minister said; “The Vice President is expected to flag off the test run of the standard gauge rail project on Feb. 6 for passengers use.

“Arrangement was being put in place for passengers to enjoy free train for about two months between February and March,”

“The level of work would have been faster in Lagos but due to some challenges of right of way in the city,” he added.

The minister said that passengers will from Thursday, February 7, enjoy free train ride to Abeokuta from the Agbado station.

According to the minister, the rail project will further bring about economic development in the area and Nigeria when ready.

The minister also inspected, among others, the Bolade-Oshodi, Iju-Fagba, Ijoko rail tracks to assess the laying of rail tracks on the axis.
