Final Year Student Commits Suicide After Losing Lover To Another Man

Prince, a final year student of Isaac Jasper Boro College of Education, Sagbama, Bayelsa State, has committed suicide for losing his girlfriend to another man.

The deceased, who is an indigene of Kaiama community, in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the state,
was reported to have consumed a bottle of insecticide in the effort of taking his own life on Wednesday.

Further report had it that the insecticide had damaged his lungs and other major parts of his intestines.

The deceased is said to have been buried in his hometown, Kaiama, the same day.

Nanakumo Tony, his close friend, while reacting to the incident, said he was shocked at the incident, noting that he spoke with the deceased three days before his death.

He said, “I still find it difficult to believe the news that Prince is dead. I spoke to him three days ago. I even shook hands with him. In fact, this is a painful death.

“Prince, why did you choose this path? May God have Mercy on your soul! The lady involved is also a final year student in the same school, but hails from Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.”

The incident is coming two months after a student of Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Ayuba Daniel, also committed suicide by drinking the same substance, popularly called ‘Sniper’.

The Spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, said he had yet to hear about the incident.
