Nyitse Describes The Step As Against Principle Of Natural Justice

Dr Tivlumum Nyitse, a governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State, has reacted to the step to hand over the structure of the party to Governor Samuel Ortom as a threat to other members of the party that are nursing governorship ambition and might make them lose interest in the party.

The statement was made by Nyitse on Tuesday, while reacting to the decision of the party leadership to hand over the structure of the party in Benue State to Ortom.

The party structure had been handed over to the governor on Monday, by some PDP elders, led by former Senate President, David Mark.

Nyitse, who had picked his nomination form, lamented that the step of the party’s leadership was against the principle of natural justice.

He stated that it was not right to hand over the party’s structure to Ortom, who recently returned to the party after spending years in All Progressives Congress.

“Those who have been in the party should not be made to suffer for those who just came back. This is against natural justice and could lead to apathy amongst members.

“There must be some elements of consideration to uphold the survival of the party; let what will enhance the survival of the party be done. You do not need to have anybody in the party structure to contest any position.

“The governor is the leader of the party in the state, there is no doubt about that; but to put the party structure in his care is undemocratic and not in the interest of the party,” Nyitse fumed.

He said the decision would create a problem for the party, particularly as the elders did not meet with the other aspirants before taking the decision.
