Nigeria Avoids FIFA Hammer Over NFF Crisis

The federal government of Nigeria has recognized Amaju Pinnick as the authentic president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).

This brings to an end the NFF leadership tussle between Amaju Pinnick and Chris Giwa which resulted in the World football governing body, FIFA to caution the country over interference in football matters.

The news was disclosed by Mr. Laolu Akande, senior special assistant (media and publicity) to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on his twitter account, who also confirmed FIFA have been notified of the development, laying to rest fears of possible ban on footballing activities in Nigeria.

Recall that as earlier reported by Naija News, FIFA had given the country a Monday, 20th August deadline to withdraw all forms of interference in football administration in the country and recognize Amaju Pinnick as the leader of the country’s football federation.
