22 School Children Drown In Nile River In Sudan

No fewer than 22 children drowned when a boat ferrying them to their school sank on the Nile River in Sudan Wednesday, an eye-witness says.

With the river swollen from heavy rains, the SUNA news agency reported that the boat had been carrying about 40 children, when it capsised due to rough conditions.

Report has it that an elderly woman also lost her life to the incident.

SUNA reported that authorities are presently making efforts to retrieve the bodies of the victims from the Nile River, where the accident occurred.
