Super Eagles Can Still Make Impact In Russia – Okocha

The Super Eagles team who will be representing the country at the Russia 2018 World Cup, has been charged by former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha to put up their best at the competition.

The Super Eagles are in the same group with Argentina, Iceland and Croatia and will be playing Croatia in their first match on June 16.

Nigeria who played a friendly match with Czech Republic in Austria on Wednesday, lost by a single goal margin, but the former captain believes the team can still make an impact in Russia.

With the Eagles currently in Austria preparing for the tournament after their friendly matches, Okocha, who represented Nigeria at the 1994, 1998 and 2002 World Cups, told Brila FM on Thursday that the team should perform well in Russia.

He said, “Experience is the best teacher and I believe that we should not expect too much from the team in Russia. We should set a realistic target for them – to first qualify from the group. They can then take it on from there.

“Most of them are going there for the first time; they should enjoy the moment and put up their best performance. It is possible that they may not have the opportunity to play at the World Cup again after this, so they should try to make a good use of it.
