Deji Adeyanju, a Co-convener of pro-democracy group, Concerned Nigerians, was arrested today in Abuja by men of the Nigerian police.
Deji started a daily sit-out at the Unity fountain yesterday, demanding the release of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria aka Shiites, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky. The police me had reportedly barricaded the Unity Fountain preventing the protesters from gaining access to hold the daily sit-out. The policemen reportedly threw teargas at the protesters. The officers thereafter picked up Deji and other leaders of the group.
A Police officer just told @adeyanjudeji now that ‘The Nigerian government will give him what he’s been looking for’.
He’s currently being detained at @PoliceNG FCT command.
