Catholic bishops have issued a communique condemning the distribution of condoms and contraceptive pills in schools.

4. Number of school children missing in Boko Haram attack in Yobe not certain

The federal government has disclosed it is yet to ascertain the actual number of students missing following the suspected Boko Haram attack on a girls secondary school in in Dapchi, Yobe State.

The minister of information, Lai Mohammed made this known,saying the figures are still been updated.

5.  Yobe government apologizes for wrong information on rescued school children

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state on Thursday declared that none of the missing students of Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe state has been rescued.

He apologized for the wrong information earlier disclosed to the public in which it claimed some of the school girls have been rescued by security operatives.

6. Senate lacks power to order election sequence

Immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, has told the Senate it has no power to alter the order of election for 2019.

Jega said the National Assembly’s action undermined INEC’s independence of INEC and added that several sections of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), clearly state that the power to organise and set the date for elections remain the exclusive preserve of the commission.

7. Give me time to decide on 2019, Buhari tells governors

President Muhammadu Buhari has failed to give a definite answer to a call by APC governors calling on him to declare for 2019 presidency.

He asked for time to consider their proposition after a meeting which held at the Aso Rock Villa.

8. Boko Haram out to embarrass Buhari’s government

Minister of information and culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed has described the recent Boko Haram attack on a school in Yobe state as an attempt to embarrass the Buhari administration.

He stated the group are already on a back foot and are targeting soft spots for their activities.

9. Police issue 21-day ultimatum for vigilantes to surrender arms

The police has given Vigilante groups a 21-day ultimatum to surrender all illegal fire arms in its possession.

The directive from the IG of police is contained in a statement issued by the police spokesperson, Jimoh Yusuf.

10. Arsenal loose but qualify for Europa league last 16

Arsenal lost the second leg of their round of 32 Europa league clash against Oestersunds FK by two goals to one.

They however secured qualification into the next round with a 4-2 aggregate win having won their first leg game by 3-0.
