Army Arrests Suspected Arms Dealer In Nasarawa State

A man, identified as Peter Iorlaha, has been arrested at a checkpoint by troops of Guards Brigade Nigerian Army, deployed at Mararaba, Nasarawa state for Internal Security Operations.

The arrested man had in his possession, several arms and ammunition discovered during a stop and search operation at the checkpoint by troops on Thursday 8th February 2018.

A statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, a copy of which was obtained by Naija News, confirmed the arrest.

Items recovered from the suspect include a bag containing 2 Locally made pistols, 1 locally made short gun, 2 rounds of 7.62mm (Special), 5 live cartridges, 2 torch lights, a screw driver, charms and a Tecno mobile handset.

The suspect has during preliminary investigation by the army, confessed that the weapons and other items were handed over to him by his uncle for safe keeping. The suspect is currently under further interrogation.
