A new faction of the “defunct” Fresh Peoples Democratic Party has emerged and set up a National Working Committee to manage its affairs.

Fresh Peoples Democratic Party was formed by some aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party during the party’s leadership crisis and the subsequent fall out arising from the results of the December 2017 convention of the party.

But the faction reportedly returned to the PDP following the sacking of Ali Modu Sheriff by the supreme court judgement and the subsequent emergence of Prince Uche Secondus as the substantive PDP national chairman.

But some members of the “defunct” Fresh PDP faction have yesterday in Abuja, come out to debunk claims they have returned to the mainstream PDP, Punch reports..

The new group claimed not to be part of the Fresh PDP that returned to the main PDP.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, the interim National Chairman of the new faction, Mr. Obi-Nwosu Butches, disclosed his faction would organise an elective national convention after its membership registration.

Other individuals listed by Butches as members of his group’s interim National Working Committee are: Osukuade Sowemiko (deputy national chairman, South), Alhaji Abubakar Muslim (deputy national chairman, North), Alhaji Gamawa Muhammad Ibrahim (secretary), Rodney Odili-Obi (organising secretary); Ambassador Waziri Umar (financial secretary), and Mr. Chidi Onwuekweikpe (legal adviser), among others.

Butches said, “We promise His Excellency, Dr Olusegun Obasanjo and all lovers of our great party that the PDP will certainly turn out to be the much-needed pivot for the proposed coalition.”
