Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state, has denied claims in certain quarters that himself and Senate President Bukola Saraki were planning on returning to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

In a statement yesterday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, the governor said he, Dr. Bukola Saraki and other political leaders in the state have no reason to return to the PDP which they left for the All Progressives Congress, (APC) before the 2015 elections.

Governor Ahmed clarified insinuations which emerged after a recent interview with a newspaper, saying that does not translate to plans to dump APC for PDP, but rather an explanation on why he and other political stakeholders in the state left the PDP.

The governor further stated that he, Saraki and other governors left the PDP due to impunity, disregard for the rule of law and lack of inclusiveness in the party at the time following extensive consultations with stakeholders and supporters.

He went on to advice those drawing hasty conclusions from the interview to rather review the contents of the said interview in order to properly educate themselves on what he truly said.

Commending the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the governor re-stated his commitment to the leadership provided by President Muhammadu Buhari adding that the unprecedented federal projects in Kwara State, were aided by the intervention of Senator Saraki.

The governor also restated his administration’s commitment to delivering electoral promises to Kwarans across all sectors, promising not to be distracted by mischievous politicians.
