Benue State Police command has arrested 59 persons in connection with the cult crisis which occurred recently in Makurdi, the state capital.
Naija News gathered that the crisis left many injured while property worth millions were destroyed.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Moses Yamu, disclosed this to journalists on Monday in Makurdi.
The PPRO said the arrested suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
He therefore, urged residents in Makurdi not to entertain fear or panic, saying command had already deployed additional personnel in the affected parts of the town to restore peace and order as well as forestall the crisis from escalating.
Meanwhile the state governor, Samuel Ortom, had on Sunday during an emergency stakeholders meeting in Makurdi, appealed to parents and guardians, to warn their children and wards against involving in cult activities.
He said anyone found culpable of cult activities would face the wrath of the law.
