We supported Secondus because of his honesty, track record- PDP G0vernors reveal.

Some Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governors have disclosed why they gave their support to Uche Secondus to emerge as the national chairman of the party.

According to the governors, they backed Secondus because of his truthfulness, character and strength.

Naija News gathered that they said this at the thanksgiving service in honour of Secondus at the Rivers State Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The governors said that Secondus as the National Deputy Chairman of the past upheld truth and ensured that rules were followed during party primaries, adding that governors and other stakeholders chose Secondus because of his experience and track record.

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, said as the Deputy National Chairman, Secondus always ensured the promotion of the PDP interests above every other thing.

He said, “This position is an opportunity to give Nigerians what they want. I can’t understand why people are suffering untold hardship.  Imagine the fuel scarcity with people buying a litre of fuel between N300 and N400.”

“For the first time in the history of our party, we had an election to elect a national chairman. It was not like the case before where the President and governors decided on a consensus candidate.”

The Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, in his remarks said the governors supported Secondus because of the unflinching support he also gave them in the past.

The Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, said the governors worked with Wike to ensure Secondus won because of his character.

“Secondus  stood with me when the promise of man failed,” he said.

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, said, “We are prepared to go the whole route with Prince Uche Secondus. He will be an exemplary party leader in Africa.”

Secondus, in his remark, boasted that PDP would take over the mantle of leadership of the country in 2019.

“We are going according to the plans and purpose of God. This country will be returned to the PDP, whether you like it or not; it is approved in heaven. You cannot do otherwise.”

He therefore thanked God for using Wike and his colleagues to make his ambition a reality.
