Troops kill Boko Haram members in Borno
-Rifle, machetes, mobile phones, other items, recovered from fleeing insurgents
Some Boko Haram insurgents have been killed, while attempting to escape from the current clearance operation in one of the terrorist’s hideouts in Gambo Yukku forest Gubio, Borno State.
The insurgents were killed by troops of 5 Brigade Garrison, during a gun battle, Daily Post reported.
Colonel Timothy Antigha, Deputy Director Public Relations 8 Task Force Division, stated that “troops were on routine patrol in Aisaram village, Gubio Local Government Area, as part of the clearance operations, when at about 6:20 am this morning, 2 Boko Haram terrorists riding horses attempted to outflank them, but were spotted by vigilant troops and shot during the fire fight.”

Antigha revealed that among the items recovered from the terrorists were machetes, horses, ann AK 47 rifle among others.
He said, “Items recovered from the dead terrorists include an AK 47 riffle, a magazine with a single round of 7.62 millimeters ammunition and 2 machetes. Other items recovered include 2 mobile phones, 2 horses and 7000 Naira cash. No soldier sustained any injury or was lost during the operation.”
Meanwhile, as part of plans to tackle insurgency, the Nigerian Air Force has sent five fighter jets to Sambisa Forest to destroy the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists, operating in the area.
