The Kwara State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has called on the federal government to as a matter of urgency, review the minimum wage of workers in the country.

The call was made in Ilorin on Tuesday by the Kwara state chairman of the NLC, Mr. Abdulyekeen Agunbiade while speaking with newsmen on the state of the nation.

He added that according to Labour law, workers salaries should be reviewed every ten years.

While giving assurances that the labour has not abandoned its call for the upward review of the national minimum wage, he disclosed N50,000 would be the minimum Nigerian workers should settle for.

According to the NLC boss, Nigerian workers earn the lowest minimum wage, compared with contemporaries around  the world.

He also slammed labour minister, Dr Chris Ngige, for allowing several trade disputes go on under his watch, claimiing the minister was not in charge of  his ministry.
