Woman bathes husband to death with acid, flees

-An Imo woman, Augustina reportedly killed her husband by bathing him with acid.

-Augustina fled after committing the act.

A 50-year-old father of four, Raymond Ihugba, in Akwakuma community of Owerri North Counci Area, Imo State, has been allegedly killed by his wife, Augustina, after a persistent quarrel between them.

Naija News gathered that Augustina is still at large while the remains of the victim had been taken to the mortuary of the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri.

The mother of the deceased, Mrs. Eunice Ihugba, told Punch correspondent that Raymond and Augustina were always at loggerheads because she was always demanding high amount of money from him despite his meagre income.

Eunice said Raymond who was a stonemason pleaded with his wife to bear with him, but the wife wouldn’t agree.

“My efforts and those of Augustina’s relations to arrest the ugly situation proved abortive,” the grieving mother said.

Eunice said Augustina attacked her husband with acid on his site in Ubomiri.

She said, “Augustina poured the acid on him, set him ablaze and ran into hiding. Raymond was rushed to the Emergency Ward of the FMC, Owerri, from where he was transferred to the ward 10 of the hospital where he eventually gave up the ghost.”

The mother added that the suspect usually stole her husband’s money due to her extravagant life style.

The traditional ruler of the community, Eze Charles Osuji, described the incident as an abomination to the community, assuring that the suspect who is on the run would be apprehended and face justice.

He therefore advised residents of the community not to be tensed and allow the police to handle the situation.
