Officers of the Kaduna Police have embarked on a peaceful protest over the non-payment of their August and September salaries.

The police officer, numbering about 2,000 are protesting at the entrance of the Salaries Office within the Command headquarters in Kaduna Town.

The state commissioner of police, Cyril Abeh, appealing to the protesting officers said the delay in payment was the fault of the finance ministry’s IPPS office and not that of the police.

The CP said, “They are police officers operating under the law, if they misbehave, we will deal with them according to the law. This is mutiny.

I am in the field attending to a very important security matter, but will be on my way back to headquarters to address them now.”

The finance minister, Kemi Adeosun was alleged of refusing to inform President Muhammadu Buhari on the “exact situation regarding the non-payment of the police salaries”, Daily Post reported.

“She already lied to Mr President that all is well. How can you fight corruption and you don’t pay police their two months salaries,” an officer stated.
