The Benue State Police PRO, Moses Yamu, claimed that no one was killed in the incident, in an interview with DAILYPOST
Residents of the community have said they have counted over four dead bodies as at yesterday when the crisis broke out.
Yamu revealed that the problem started Thursday morning after some youths from the Akpagodogbo allegedly challenged herdsmen in the area, accusing them of destroying their crops.
“It was that process that fight broke out between them and few persons were injured.
“One Peter Monday, from Akpagodogbo was the only one seriously injured in the incident.
“Our men their were drafted to the area to settle the case but the villagers insisted that the herdsmen must be lynched so the officers had to move them to the station.
“This provoked the youths of the village who invaded the station and destroyed one section,” Yamu, an Assistant Superintendent of Police said.
