'MC Oluomo Steps Down As Lagos NURTW Chairman'

Gboyega Akosile, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, has commended the deputy governor of the state, Obafemi Hamzat, for his response to the call for the arrest of Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Hamzat said the State Parks Management Committee Chairman should be arrested if it can be proven that he broke the law.

While condemning violence and ethnic slurs, Hamzat said anybody including MC Oluomo who is found guilty of being responsible for violence, should be made to face the law.

The deputy governor stated that he cannot direct the arrest of MC Oluomo as he was not the head of any security agency or the police.

However, Hamzat noted MC Oluomo had clarified a video that went viral online where he was caught asking Igbos not to come out to vote during the gubernatorial election if they won’t vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, Akosile applauded one of the presenters, Maupe Ogun-Yusuf, for attempting to put Hamzat on the spot by asking a direct question on MC Oluomo.

Akosile said the deputy governor showed cerebral fortitude and intelligence while answering the question, adding that experiences counted in his response.

He wrote: “My sister @MaupeO doing a great job on @channelstv this morning wanted to put my boss, the deputy Gov @drobafemihamzat on the spot by asking a direct question on MC Oluomo. Trust the cerebral and intelligent response from our deputy Governor as always. Experience counts.”
