Adamawa State governor and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmadu Fintiri, has maintained his lead in the governorship election.

Naija News reports the announcement of results from 21 of the state’s 21 local governments have been announced.

Aishatu ‘Binani’ Dahiru, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who was hopeful of becoming the first woman to be elected a state governor in Nigeria could not secure victory despite winning the Fufore LGA area.

Binani polled 24,777 votes in Fufore, whilst the PDP polled 20,409 votes.

The APC, however, failed to surpass the current voting gap between her and the state Governor.

Fintiri won in 13 LGAs while Binani won in 8 of the 21 declared so far.
