2023: INEC Sends Important Message To First-time Voters

A stern warning has done out to civil servants in Niger State on what would likely happen to them if they refuse to collect their Permanent Votes Cards (PVCs).

Naija News reports that the Niger State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who gave the warning to civil servants in the state, said any worker that fails to collect his or her PVC would face sanctions.

The Niger State NLC Chairman, Idris Lakpene disclosed that plans are underway to stop salaries of civil servants who refused to collect their PVCs.

Lakpene, who made the disclosure while fielding questions from pressmen in Minna, the Niger State capital, submitted that Civil servants in the state who deliberately refused to collect their PVCs shall have their salaries stopped or face suspension as another way of punishment.

The NLC chairman wondered why civil servants and some Nigerians in general would refuse to perform their civic duty or not take their civic responsibility serious.

Lakpene, however, admonished civil servants in the states and in the country to endeavour to collect their PVCs because it’s an avenue for better lives for them.

He said if civil servants collect cards, they would be able to vote leaders that can better their working conditions and also bring meaningful development to the state, adding that it’s important they partake in the political process to determine their future.

Similarly Naija News gathered that the Chairman of the Niger State chapter of the Nigeria Youth Council (NYC), Abdullahi Muhammad Ishaq Kuta, also urged youths to collect their PVCs ahead of the forthcoming election.

He remarked that youths are the backbone of every societal development, therefore the need for them to actively engage in political processes for a better society.
