Iseyin: Obasanjo Attempted To Ridicule Those In The Rank Of Gods - Afenifere Demands Public Apology

Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that the 2023 elections is a turning point for Nigeria and the citizens must vote wisely.

The former President cautioned the citizens against voting for candidates based on emotions.

A statement on Sunday by his spokesperson, Kehinde Akinyemi quoted the former Nigerian leader to have given the note of caution over the weekend at his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Ogun State during a visit by the leadership of the Mzough U Tiv group, a socio-cultural group in Tiv land, Benue State.

He declared support for rotational leadership, stating that it is time for power to change from the North to the South.

“If Nigeria is ready to get it right, the 2023 elections should be a turning point. We should not go for emotion that will destroy us,” he said.

PDP Reacts As Dogara, Others Adopt Atiku

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation has welcomed the adoption of its flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, by the Northern Christain Leaders Consultative Forum.

Naija News recalls that one of its prominent members of the forum and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, had endorsed the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

However, some members of the forum swiftly dissociated themselves from Obi’s endorsement, saying that Lawal was on his own as consultations were still ongoing.

On Friday, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, and other members in his camp named Atiku as their preferred candidate for the 2023 Presidency.

Reacting to the development in a chat with Vanguard, the Spokesperson for the campaign, Kola Ologbodiyan, commended the Northern Christain leaders for backing the presidential ambition of the former Vice President.

He said Atiku’s adoption was a confirmation of the consensus by the larger majority of Nigerians that the PDP candidate remains the candidate of choice for most Nigerians.
