Akwa Ibom Youths Protest Killing Of PDP Chief, Demand Justice

Angry youths of Akwa Ibom State in the Ekparakwa axis of Oruk Anam Local Government Area have erupted in a wild cat protest, demanding justice for the killing of their leader Sir S. J.Ntefre, and his cousin Emmanuel Ntefre.

The duo were allegedly kidnapped and killed Sunday morning by unidentified gunmen in what many described as political assassinations.

The youths took to the streets of Ekparakwa in a protest, demanding justice for their kinsmen who were shot dead on Sunday by some hoodlums.

A youth leader from Ekparakwa says “the situation is a terrible experience that we could no longer bear, we the youths of Ekparakwa need Justice for Sir Ntefre and his cousin Emmanuel Ntefre, we can not keep quiet any longer.

‘’This is absolutely condemnable, politics is not a do or die affairs, so we are here to lend our voice ad cries to the State Government to wake up to the course of Ekparakwa killings and rescue Oruk from blood shedding politicians.”

Adding, he said, “everyone who has a hand in the death of our father must be brought to book.”

Ntefre has been Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in OrukAnam Local Government Area. His life was short-circuited by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Ekparakwa.

The gunmen immediately fled the scene of the crime leaving behind a Toyota SUV used for the operations.

Naija News gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday, May 15 at about 8am as the gunmen attempted to abduct the former party chieftain in his compound.

Mrs Sarah Williamson, narrated that the gunmen arrived at the residence of the deceased in a black SUV and dragged him outside while other members of the gang were shooting to scare away neighbours

Williamson narrated that the gunshots attracted youths who raised alarm against the gunmen causing the whole community to chase the hoodlums .

She said by the time the youths started to chase the kidnappers , they had already abducted the party chief into the nearby bush and shot him severally while some members of the gang who were waiting in a standby the SUV abandoned it , ran out of the car and escaped through the bush .

“Community people came out and rolled the Jeep away from that place . I don’t where they took it but I am sure they ran away leaving the car behind”

It was gathered that the youths quickly searched the bush and discovered the corpse of the party chieftain lying in the pool of his blood.

Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has opened an investigation into the matter.
