Citizens of Taraba State have been left in fears after a bomb explosion was heard in Jalingo, the capital city of the state.

Reports about the incident is still sketchy at the moment and no casualty has been reported yet.

Naija News understands that the explosion happened on Tuesday at about 9 pm, a few metres away from the military base located in the Jalingo metropolis.

A source who confirmed the incident to Daily Post revealed that the explosive was thrown into the military base by a passerby.

The development has stirred palpable tension in the state capital.

Confirming the report, the state police command through its Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullahi, told newsmen that he heard the sound and that he has confirmed that it was an explosion, but could not ascertain if anyone died.

The security personnel, however, promised to give further details about the incident in later hours.

The latest bomb explosion, Naija News understands, is the third happening in the state this year.

In April this year, the explosion was heard in Jalingo, the state capital, where at least nine people were injured.

The explosion was reportedly heard in the Nukkai axis, bordering the Ardo-Kola local government area of the state.

It was reported that the deadly device exploded at night at the time the town was in a blackout due to a power outage.
