Saliu Adetunji, Olubadan of Ibadan, has submitted that barring any constitutional hindrances, he would have loved Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state to run for another term in office as the state governor.

According to the royal father, his support for Ajimobi stems from his wonderful performance so far as the number one citizen of Oyo state.

He said this during a meeting between the governor and traditional rulers in Oyo state.

The olubadan said: “Yoruba don’t appreciate themselves except to abuse and criticise but when someone has done well, we must say it,” he said.

“I am talking about what I have seen so far. In view of this, I would have loved him to go for another term if not that the constitution does not allow it.

“The governor has performed very well. He has recorded unprecedented achievements worthy of commendation. This is the only way to spur him into greater performance for the benefit of the whole state.”

Naija News reports that Governor Abiola Ajimobi has been in power from 2011 and as constitutionally allowed, would be handing over to another democratically elected governor upon the expiration of his second term in office in 2019.
