Nnamdi Kanu: Ohanaeze Hails IPOB Over Suspension Of Sit-at-Home Order

Igbo socio-political group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide has reacted to the suspension of the Sit-at-home order issued by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Recall that IPOB had ordered for a sit-at-home to be observed every Monday throughout the southeast region, starting from August 9, until IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is released from prison.

But in a statement on Sunday Nnamdi Manu’s brother, Kanunta, said the sit-at-home order has been suspended due to the National Examination Council (NECO) examination for junior secondary schools.

He said a new date for the commencement of the sit-at-home order would be announced later.

According to him, the order was suspended after IPOB listened to pleas from well-meaning individuals and groups.

But in a statement on Sunday, Ohanaeze Nidgbo hailed the proscribed group for suspending the Sit-at-home order to protest the continued detention of Kanu.

Ohanaeze, however, asked the group to always engage critical stakeholders in consultative meetings before any announcement of action to avert home resistance and opposition.

The statement read in part: “This is the finest hour in Igboland, that after feeling the pulse of the people, IPOB succumbed to superior arguments that any sit at home at the moment was an ill-conceived idea and ill-timed”.

“IPOB should always engage critical stakeholders in consultative meetings before any announcement of action to avert home resistance and opposition.

“The withdrawal of sit at home instantly had reinforced our obligations to propel for more diplomatic techniques through the Southeastern Governors and political leaders for the release of Nnamdi Kanu”

“There is a sign of relief in the air, the more they(IPOB) exhibit obedience to Southeastern Nigerian Governors and Ohanaeze Ndigbo.”
