Senate rejects Mahmud, confirms two other resident electoral commissioner nominees.

The Nigerian Senate has rejected Ahmed Bello Mahmud as nominee for the position of Resident Electoral Commissioner representing Zamfara state on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

However, two other nominees who are Rufus Akeju representing Lagos state and Mahmuda Isa representing Kebbi state were confirmed as INEC Resident Electoral Commissioners by the Upper Chamber.

Meanwhile, the two out of three Zamfara state Senators had earlier rejected Mahmud’s nomination saying that he is an indigene of  Sokoto and not Zamfara state.
