The Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Professor Anthony Ugochukwu, has reported died amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis in the country. The renowned surgeon’s death was confirmed by the House member representing his constituency, Oji River state Constituency in the Enugu House of Assembly Hon. Jeff Mbah.

4. Coronavirus: Why Lagos May Extend Lockdown – Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has stated that the lockdown of the state over the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic may be extended. Naija News recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the lockdown and restriction of movement in Lagos, Abuja and Ogun state for fourteen days to curb the spread of COVID-19.

5. COVID-19: House Of Reps Consider 2-Month Free Power Supply Bill

The House of Representatives on Saturday in Abuja considered a bill that will ensure that Nigerians get free electricity supply for two months following the sit-at-home measure across Nigeria. The Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, noted that the proposed bill will help in boosting the economy through the informal sector as the country prepares for the aftermath of the coronavirus.

6. COVID-19 Case Recorded In NNPC Abuja Estate

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has revealed that a case of coronavirus (COVID-19) was recorded at its estate in the Garki area of Abuja. This was made known in a statement on Friday by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, Dr Kennie Obateru.

7. Boko Haram: Army Troops Destroy ISWAP Camp In Borno State

A camp belonging to the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) at Tumbun Fulani on the fringes of Lake Chad in Northern Borno has been destroyed by the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) and Artillery Batteries of Sector 3 of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF). This was confirmed in a statement on Saturday by the Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

8. Coronavirus: FG Seeks Lawmakers’ Approval For N500 Billion Intervention Fund

The federal government of Nigeria has approached the National Assembly, seeking the lawmakers’ approval for the establishment of a N500 billion COVID-19 crisis intervention fund. The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, led the Federal Government’s delegation which met with the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila on Saturday to work out the modalities.

9. Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Challenges Igbo Billionaires On COVID-19

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has challenged Igbo billionaires to use the money they are donating to the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide food and anti-coronavirus kits for people in the South East.  Naija News reports that Kanu made this comment in a radio broadcast on Radio Biafra, where he told Igbo traders that this is not the time to be selfish and parochial, but a time to come together to save as many lives as possible by being their brother’s keeper and sharing whatever they have to save lives.

10. Abia Warriors FC’s Goalkeeper, Tambe Shot By Gunmen In Ibadan

A week after two Nigerian footballers were released by their abductors who kidnapped them at Ipele, along Benin–Akure road in March 2020, reports have emerged a few moments ago that Charles Tambe, Abia Warriors goalkeeper has been attacked, shot by yet to be identified gunmen in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State. According to Mr Patrick Ngwaogwu, the Abia warriors sporting director who confirmed the incident on the official Twitter account of the club, the goalkeeper was attacked on Friday while he was out for his morning exercise.
