The United States Embassy has announced that it would halt all visa appointments due to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.

Naija News recalls that the Federal Government of Nigeria had issued a travel ban on 13 countries over the spread of the Coronavirus.

The countries include the United States, United Kingdom, China, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Iran, Germany, South Korea, Netherland, France, Norway and Japan.

Reacting in a statement on Wednesday, the US Embassy in Nigeria said: “As of March 18, 2020, the United States Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria is cancelling routine nonimmigrant visa appointments.

“We will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time.”

US, however, explained that application fees already paid by applicants would remain valid in the country where it was purchased within one year of the date of payment.
