Former Oyo Gov, Ladoja to contest for PDP national chairmanship seat

A former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, has joined the race to contest for the position of the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

It would be recalled that Ladoja returned to PDP few months ago after decamping to the Accord Party about 8 years ago to contest the state’s governorship position during the 2015 general elections which he lost.

Naija News gathered that the party’s constitution stipulates that any member of the party will need to remain a member for two consecutive years before he could contest any elective election. Therefore, Ladoja will need a waiver from the party’ National Executive Committee before he could be allowed to vie for the chairmanship seat.

Information obtained by Punch says that Ladoja was among other chairmanship aspirants who met with the members of the National Caretaker Committee of the party yesterday.

It was learnt that Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Chairman of the caretaker committee, presided over the meeting.

Those who were in attendance were Chief Bode George, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, Chief Gbenga Daniel, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, Mr. Jimi Agbaje and Prince Uche Secondus.
