LAUTECH Lecturers On Strike Due To Unpaid Salaries

The lecturers of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology have begun a strike on Monday after the time given to the government to pay their three-month salaries lapsed last Friday.

According to the Academic Staff Union of Universities branch of the institution’s 10-day ultimatum to
LAUTECH to pay them expired on November 15.

According to LAUTECH ASSU Chairman Dr. Biodun Olaniran and Secretary Dr. Toyin Abegunrin, the decision to down tools were reached at the congress of the union held on the campus on Monday.

The union also threatened to withhold the ‘rain semester’ results of the 2018/2019 academic session until they were paid.

He said further that the decision was reached after reviewing the situation regarding the non-payment of their salaries.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof M Ologunde did not pick up his calls neither had he respnded to text messages sent to him on the development as at press time.
