Breaking: DSS Hands Off Suit Seeking To Detain Sowore For Extra 20 Days

The Department of State Services (DSS) has withdrawn a suit application filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking to detain Omoyele Sowore for another 20 days.

Naija News understands that the DSS filed charges of treason against Sowore and also accused him of trying to overthrow the government of President Muhammadu Buhari using the RevolutionNow movement.

It would be recalled that in the charges filed in court, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), accused Sowore of conspiracy to commit a treasonable felony in breach of section 516 of the Criminal Code Act by allegedly staging “a revolution campaign on September 5, 2019, aimed at removing the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, supporters of human rights activist and pro-democracy campaigner, Omoyele Sowore, have once again condemned the President Muhammadu Buhari regime and corruption in the judiciary.

Speaking on the probabilities of the case, rights activist Deji Adeyanju, said he did not expect a good outcome from the arraignment because of the corruption in the judiciary.

He said, “We do not expect any good outcome because this is the federal government of impunity. Sowore is a modern-day hero. He has not said he will form a parallel government. So, I do not understand why such a person will be charged with a treasonable felony.”

He added that the arraignment was a tactic to delay justice in the matter.

“We are here to witness the abuse of court processes. They have run out to ideas to continue detaining him so we are not surprised by the tactics. What crime did Sowore commit? The charges are baseless.”
