Kidnappers Of INEC Staff In Jigawa State Fail To Release Him After Collecting Ransom
The official of the Independent National Election Commission that was kidnapped in Jigawa State is yet to be released by the kidnappers.
The kidnappers who abducted the INEC official had reportedly demanded the sum of N500,000 ransom for his freedom.
As earlier reported by Naija News, the INEC official, Mahadi Hassan was kidnapped on Gwiwa Road in the state.
The father of the kidnapped victim, Mahadi Kofar Wambai disclosed that the kidnappers demanded #500,000 for his release.
Wambi revealed that the abductors reached out to him through a call on Saturday and demanded the ransom and threatened to kill him if they fail to comply with the demand.
“They demanded 500,000 as ransom or kill him if we fail to give the said amount on the following day,” he said.
Wambi revealed that on Sunday the demanded ransom was paid to the kidnappers but they failed to release him.
The electoral body has confirmed that its official was kidnapped in Jigawa State on Friday while on his way on Kazaure, Gwiwa Road.
The INEC HOD Voter Education and Publicity in the state, Mr.John Kaiwa, said Mr. Mahadi has been missing since Friday.
