Just few days after the Governorship election in Jigawa State, some suspected gunmen have kidnapped an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahadi Hassan, in the state.
The state’s HOD, Voter Education and Publicity, John Kaiwa, confirmed the incident to Channels TV on Tuesday.
While speaking about the incident, Kaiwa stated that Hassan was kidnapped on Gwiwa Road in the state.
The state’s commissioner of police, Bala Zama, confirmed the abduction and further claimed that the kidnappers have contacted that family of the INEC official.
“Hassan’s abductors have demanded a ransom before he can regain his freedom,” the police commissioner said.
