Security Guard In Court For Allegedly Stealing Properties Worth N2m

A security guard, identified as Godfirst Ikechukwu, has been arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrates Court in Lagos State, for breaking into a house which he was guarding and taking away property valued at two million Naira.

Police charged Ikechukwu with four counts of conspiracy, breaking and entry, stealing and breach of peace.

The prosecutor, SP Thomas Nurudeen, told the court that the accused conspired with others now at large to commit the offence on November 1, at 11:50pm at No. 35, Raymond str., Sabo, Yaba area of Lagos.

The prosecutor stated that the security guard broke and entered the house of the complainant, Mr Charles Nzeaka, the same house he was on duty to secure.

The prosecutor said the accused also stole two phones and pieces of jewellery.

Nurudeen said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 251, 280 (1), 306 (1) and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. (Revised).

The accused, however, plead not guilty to the charges.

In her ruling, Chief Magistrate Mrs K.B. Ayeye, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ayeye ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, show two years evidence of tax payment to Lagos Government and be gainfully employed.

The case was adjourned until January 29, 2019 for further hearing.
