Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen is conscious and in high spirits after collapsing during his country’s match against Ukraine in a frightening incident that forced officials to abandon the game.
The midfielder suddenly went down during the encounter and remained on the pitch for several minutes, prompting immediate concern from teammates, opponents and supporters.

Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen said: “Christian Eriksen is doing well and walked off the pitch by himself. As I see it, the pacemaker responded as it should. He was briefly unconscious, but regained consciousness very quickly, and we were quickly in contact with him.
“He will now undergo further examinations at the hospital to determine what caused the incident. We are in ongoing contact with him and the doctors at the hospital.
“But Christian is doing well, and he asked me to send his regards to all the players and tell them that he was okay.”
The development provided relief for supporters who had feared the worst after witnessing the dramatic scenes.
Officials later decided to abandon the match, placing priority on the player’s health and well-being.
