Christian Eriksen, a midfielder for Manchester United, has claimed that because of the short lifespan of football, people will quickly forget what it was like when Cristiano Ronaldo played for the team.

Christian Eriksen who expressed his “sadness” at the departure of the 37-year-old noted that “football goes on” after Ronaldo’s departure from the club.

Recall that after criticizing the team and declaring in an interview with Piers Morgan that he had “no regard” for manager Erik ten Hag, United terminated the contract of the forward from Portugal in November.

“You feel that the next game after, people will forget what it was like before and now our focus is really like he is not here”, he said.

“His legacy and his name at any club are special and for me to be fortunate to play with him in my career was very nice.”

Ronaldo’s next move is still unknown, but the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr is hoping he will take a reported two-and-a-half-year contract offer of 200 million euros (£176.2 million), according to the Spanish tabloid Marca.

Since club football resumed following the World Cup, United has won back-to-back games. They defeated Burnley to go to the EFL Cup quarterfinals, then on Tuesday at Old Trafford, they defeated Nottingham Forest 3-0 to stay a point away from the top four.

For the first time since April 2021, United will travel to Wolves on December 31 with the hope of recording a fifth straight victory in all competitions.
