Super Falcons Of Nigeria Camp Swells To 17 Players Ahead Of Senegal Clash

The Super Falcons’ camp in Ikenne has grown to 17 players as preparations intensify for next week’s international friendly matches against Senegal.

The latest arrivals are Christy Ucheibe, Glory Ogbonna, Blessing Nkor, Francisca Ordega, Comfort Erhabor and Sikiratu Isah, providing a significant boost to the squad ahead of the two encounters.

Camp officially opened on Sunday, with former African Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala among the first players to report alongside Shukurat Oladipo and Kafayat Shittu.

More players joined the team on Tuesday, including Joy Omewa, Oluwatosin Demehin, Toni Payne, Blessing Ilivieda, Folashade Ijamilusi, Anderline Mgbechi, Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene and Omorinsola Babajide.

Six additional players are still expected in camp.

The nine-time African champions will begin full-scale preparations with a training session at the Remo Stars Sports Complex on Wednesday evening.

The friendly matches against Senegal are scheduled for Friday and Monday at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.

Head coach Justine Madugu will use the fixtures as part of the team’s build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Senegal are also preparing for the continental tournament and have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Algeria and Kenya.

Defending champions Nigeria will compete in Group C, where they face Malawi, Zambia and Egypt.

The 2026 WAFCON will be hosted by Morocco from July 25 to August 16, 2026. The tournament will also serve as Africa’s qualifying competition for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
